Our wind generator is (finally) up and running. This Rutland 1200 Wind Turbine is a top-of-the-line unit that generates more power than nearly any other wind generator on the market. And the best part is that it does it SILENTLY. Ours is mounted on a 5 meter mast that is shared with hour Raymarine Quantum Radar, and our Bitstorm BadBoy Xtreme MJ hi-power wi-fi antenna (both of these are also excellent products that I highly recommend).
It comes with an included MPPT charge controller that also handles one of our 250 watt solar panels. It can charge two battery banks, but we only have one bank in our boat.
We have now disconnected from shore power and are running our fridge, 2 laptop computers, and a TV strictly on our wind power in about 15 to 20 knots of breeze.
